BB-7PE is a Windows PE 3.0 like environment, with bbLean as Shell. (32 and 64bit)
It is a pure rescue system, without multimedia capabilities and without 3D support.
It should be visually appealing and full comfort, with small amount of memory usage.
bbLean is the lean version of Blackbox for Windows. It tries to keep balance between features and complexity, to give you some efficient means within a compact shell.

You only will succeed with the integration of the nForce Pata/SataRaid drivers, if you have
- a correctly created nForce RAID array (shown as "healthy" and set as bootable, for further information look here)
- an up-to-date mainboard and nVRaid BIOS (= MediaShield IDE ROM), which is part of the mainboard BIOS. Actual nVRaid drivers may need a Raid Bios v4.81 (NF3) resp. v5.60 (NF4) or higher.
- a stable system (proper RAM modules and stable BIOS settings)
- an original (=untouched) OS CD as source (don't use or reuse a source, which has already been processed by nLite!)
- a proper working IDE-connected CD or DVD drive (a S-ATA connected optical drive should not be connected with an nForce S-ATA Controller which are set to RAID or AHCI mode)
- an enabled ACPI power management (within BIOS, don't disable it by nLite settings).
Tips:
- You can see the nVRaid BIOS (=MediaShield) version of your system on the second boot screen. If you can't get a Raid BIOS version v. 4.81 or higher after having flashed the latest mainboard BIOS, you might get problems with the integration of the latest nForce Pata/SataRaid drivers.
- The successful integration of the nForce Pata/SataRaid drivers into a bootable OS CD requires the presence of the latest available Service Pack (SP) of the used OS. If your OS CD does not contain any or the last SP, you should integrate the latest SP as first step, when you are going to create your nLited CD with integrated nForce Sata/PataRaid drivers.
- XP 32bit (x86) only: If possible don't slipstream SP3 into an XP SP1 or SP2 CD. In this case it's better to take an original ("Gold"/RTM) OS CD without any SP as source for slipstreaming SP3 and the nForce Raid drivers. Otherwise you may get problems during the installation of the nLited CD.
- It is a good idea to unplug all unnecessary external hardware devices during the installation of the OS with integrated nVRaid drivers.
- If you have any hard disk drive outside your RAID array or a plugged-in USB stick, you may get the problem, that the MS Setup routine tries to install the master boot record (MBR) onto that non-RAID device, although you have set the RAID array as first bootable hard disk drive within BIOS. The only sure way to prevent this is to unplug these non-RAID devices during the installation of the OS. After the successful installation they can be reconnected without any problems.

D. After the successful OS installationOnce the OS is up, you should install the complete "suitable" nForce chipset driver set. The best suitable driverpack is that one, which contains the same version of nForce IDE drivers as the integrated ones (v6.99, v9.99.09 or 11.1.0.33, if you had followed my advices).

nForce AHCI drivers
(only valid for AHCI supporting nForce mainboards with enabled AHCI)
Actual nForce chipsets (MCP65 and up) do support the advanced S-ATA-Features (z.B. NCQ) of the AHCI standard. Users of such systems usually have the BIOS option to set the nForce S-ATA Controllers to "AHCI Mode" instead of the "IDE Mode" (which doesn't require any separate textmode drivers). If AHCI is enabled, Windows Setup will not detect the S-ATA hdd('s) unless the needed AHCI drivers will be loaded (F6) or have been integrated into the OS CD.
If you try to get Windows XP or Server 2003 (32/64bit) installed onto a non-RAID nForce chipset system and should realize, that Windows Setup doesn't find any hard drive, the following procedure will be successful for nearly all users:
- get the actual version of nLite from here and install it (.NET Framework 2.0 required)
- depending on your nForce chipset and the OS you are going to install, download and unzip one of the following drivers:
- a. for Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 (32bit):
- for nForce 630i/620i/610i (MCP73), nForce 730a/720a/710a (MCP78) and nForce ION (MCP79) chipset mainboards (AHCI enabled):
- for nForce 560/520 (MCP65) and nForce 630a (MCP67) chipset mainboards (AHCI enabled):
- b. for Windows XP x64 or Windows Server 2003 x64:
- for nForce 630i/620i/610i (MCP73), nForce 730a/720a/710a (MCP78) and nForce ION (MCP79) chipset mainboards (AHCI enabled):

- create a folder named "nLiteCD" or similar and copy the whole content of the OS CD into that folder

- when the "Driver Integration" task comes up > hit "Insert" > choose "Single driver" > point to the prepared SATA_IDE subfolder
- check any of the shown INF files

- let nLite burn the Image directly onto an empty CD/DVD
- boot of the just created CD > choose the destination partition > do a quick NTFS formatting > install the OS

Introduction:The problem:
None of the Pre-Vista Windows Operating Systems do contain drivers, which are able to detect and to use any nForce RAID Controller. Unless the suitable nForce Sata/PataRAID drivers are separately presented by the user, the OS installation fails, because the OS Setup doesn't find the RAID device and its partitions.
The traditional way to provide the needed drivers is the F6/floppy method, but this method has some severe disadvantages:
- A floppy drive is needed, but not available at many actual desktop computers and notebooks.
- Floppy disks are the worst data storage media regarding the file integrity. Bad floppy disks are the main reason for corrupted driver files.
- Even if you load the correct nForce driver and the RAID is detected by the Setup, the OS installation may end with a BSOD or endless reboot loops.The reason for this phenomenon is the fact, that the MS Operating systems prefer to install the MS IDE Controllers and drivers instead of the special NVIDIA nForce S-ATA/P-ATA ones, which are absolutely needed for Sata/PataRAID systems. At the beginning of the installation procedure (during the TEXTMODE part) the loaded nForce textmode drivers are accepted and able to detect the SataRAID/PataRAID Controller, but after the first reboot - during the hardware installation part of the installation - the correctly detected nForce S-ATA-/P-ATA Controller may be replaced by the absolutely wrong MS Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller. The consequence is a system crash at the last reboot.
The better alternative is the integration of the needed textmode drivers into a bootable OS CD. Only this way the user can be sure to succeed with the installation of the OS onto an nForce RAID array. Nevertheless the developers of the driver integration method had to solve the above specified problem (see point 3). Until 2005 the correct installation of the needed Controllers and drivers needed addtional manual work of the user. They only succeeded after having created special folders and edited some SIF and/or OEM files.
The solution:
The safest and easiest way to get the problematic nForce textmode drivers properly installed is to integrate them by using a tool like nLite. All actual versions of nLite (Since v1.0 Final) have incorporated a special method, which guarantees the successful OS installation onto any nForce RAID system (if the user observes some rules layed down below). The replacement of the correct nForce Controllers and drivers by the "wrong" MS IDE ones will be prevented by the incorporated suppression of the MS IDE drivers during the hardware detection part of the OS installation.
Advantages:
- fully automatic method (without creating new directories or editing SIF or OEM files)
- support of not digitally signed textmode drivers
- without restriction of any kind during the use of nLite

Usando una distribución Live
Consiste en usar una distribución en modo LiveCD para instalar nuevamente el GRUB. Usaremos el LiveCD de Ubuntu 9.10 o superior (debe ser la versión Live o Desktop), aunque puede ser cualquier otra distribución que use GRUB2 como gestor de arranque y no LILO ni Grub 1.
Lo primero que debemos hacer es arrancar el live-cd y abrir una terminal. Despues escribimos los siguiente para ver las particiones de los distintos discos duros:
$ sudo fdisk -l
Después vemos cual es la partición donde tenemos Ubuntu y la montamos en /mnt (en la mayoría de los casos esta partición será sda1, el ejemplo lo haré con esa partición pero mira cual es tu partición con el comando fdisk):
$ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
Ahora, monta el resto de los dispositivos:
$ sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev$ sudo mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc
Y ejecuta el comando chroot de forma que accedemos como root al sistema de archivos de nuestro antiguo Ubuntu:
$ sudo chroot /mnt
Por último cargamos el Grub en el MBR ejecutando el siguiente comando:
# grub-install --recheck /dev/sda (sda lo debemos substituir por el disco duro que utilizamos para arrancar los sistemas operativos, casi siempre es sda. Ojo!! no poner el número de partición, solo sda).
Reiniciamos y cuando vuelva a arrancar ubuntu (no el del LiveCD), podemos ajustar en el menú del GRUB manualmente para que aparezca en el menú de arranque el nuevo sistema operativo que nos borró el MBR, o dejar que lo haga el automáticamente con el siguiente comando:
$ sudo update-grub2
Si el comando no te funciona, quizás necesites instalar el paquete grub2:
$ sudo aptitude install grub2
GRUB1
Hay dos maneras de recuperar el GRUB: usando Super Grub Disk, o usando una distribución Live que contenga al GRUB.
Usando Super Grub Disk
Super Grub Disk es un restaurador del GRUB que se puede instalar en un dispositivo de almacenamiento portátil o externo (disquete, CD, DVD, USB, etc). Incluye un manual integrado y es muy fácil de usar.
Puedes descargarlo desde aquí (394 kB).
Es una imagen de disco Iso comprimida bajo GZip, necesitarás descomprimirla y luego copiar el contenido de la imagen a un disco externo, se recomienda un disquete de 3 1/2" por su reducido tamaño (para hacerlo en un CD o DVD, puedes usar un quemador de discos como K3b oBrasero).
Al arrancarlo, las opciones que debemos seguir son las siguientes:
- Idioma: español
- Sistema operativo: Linux
- Tarea: Arreglar arranque de Linux (GRUB)
Usando una distribución Live
Consiste en usar una distribución en modo LiveCD para instalar nuevamente el GRUB. Usaremos el LiveCD de Ubuntu (debe ser la versión Live o Desktop), aunque puede ser cualquier otra distribución que use GRUB como gestor de arranque y no LILO.
En modo de resumen, los pasos que hay que seguir son los siguientes:
- Arrancar una distribución LiveCD
- Montar la partición donde se encuentra instalado Ubuntu
- Instalar el GRUB en esa partición
A continuación se explica, en unos sencillos pasos, cómo hacerlo:
- Iniciamos el ordenador y arrancamos desde el CD
- Arrancamos Ubuntu (o la distribución escogida) en modo LiveCD
- Abrimos una terminal o consola (no es necesario si tenemos una interfaz de línea de comandos, es decir, en modo texto)
- Creamos una carpeta donde montar la partición de Ubuntu (la podemos crear en /media, por ejemplo: /media/ubuntu/)
- Montamos la partición donde se encuentra instalado Ubuntu, usando el comando mount.
- Aquí hay dos soluciones posibles:
Mediante el intérprete de comandos GRUB
Opción 1
- Ejecutamos los siguientes comandos:
# Ejecutamos el interprete de comandos del GRUB$ sudo grub# Indicamos dónde se encuentra la partición de Ubuntu> root (hdX,Y)#Instalamos GRUB en ese disco> setup (hdX)# Salimos del intérprete de comandos de GRUB> quit
Donde X es el número de disco rígido, y Y es el número de partición. Este sistema difiere un poco del usado para montar las particiones en GNU/Linux; ambos son un único número decimal y comienzan en 0; por ejemplo:
- hd0: es el primero disco duro completo, al igual que hda o sda
- hd0,0: es la primera partición del primer disco duro, al igual que hda1 o sda1
- hd0,1: es la segunda partición del primer disco duro, al igual que hda2 o sda2
- hd1,2: es la tercera partición del segundo disco duro, al igual que hdb3 o sdb3
El primer disco duro del GRUB es el primer disco duro maestro, el segundo es el primer disco duro esclavo, el tercero es el segundo disco duro maestro, y así sucesivamente.
Opción 2
- Desde una consola ejecutamos los siguientes comandos:
# Ejecutamos el intérprete de comandos de GRUB$ sudo grub# Busca dónde está la partición de Ubuntu> find /boot/grub/stage1# Poner el valor devuelto por el paso anterior> root (hdX,Y)# Instalar GURB en el primer disco duro> setup (hd0)# Salir del intérprete de comandos de GRUB> quit
Cambiando el origen de la carpeta raíz
Cambiamos el origen de la carpeta raíz de nuestro sistema de archivos al directorio en el que hemos montado la partición de Ubuntu, para que al instalar GRUB interprete que la raíz del sistema está ahí.
1. Antes que nada, vemos cual es nuestra partición de Ubuntu y la montamos (substituyendo hda1 por lo que corresponda):
$ sudo fdisk -l$ sudo mkdir /media/ubuntu$ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/ubuntu
2. Luego conectar el directorio dev del livecd con el de la partición Ubuntu:
$ sudo mount --bind /dev /media/ubuntu/dev3. El comando necesario para cambiar el origen del directorio raíz es:
$ sudo chroot /media/ubuntu/
4. Ahora instalamos el GRUB en el MBR del primer disco duro, que normalmente estará configurado como Primary Master (hda):
# grub-install /dev/hda Opción 1
- Iniciamos desde el LiveCD
- Buscamos el GParted o el programa para manejar particiones de nuestra distribucion
- Identificamos la particion que tenga nuestro Ubuntu y le ponemos click derecho, se nos abriran unas opciones, ponemos admisnistrar flags
- Le damos la flag de "Boot" a esa particion
- La operacion se aplicara sola, luego cerramos GParted y reiniciamos
Opción 2
- Iniciar desde un LiveCD
- Ir a Sistema/Administración/Utilidad de Discos ( o en el administrador de discos según el idioma de tu versión live cd) PALIMPSEST
- Identificar la partición que corresponde a tu LINUX
- Donde figura el TIPO: seleccionar Arrancable
- Aplicar, reiniciar y listo.
