VPN con dd-wrt linksys en WRT 54G

1) Una vez que tienes el Firmware instalado y esta funcionando correctamente ingresas mediante la interface grafica (http://ip_de_tu_router) y te dirijes a la pestaña que se llama "ADMINISTRATION" una vez alli, haces click sobre otra pestaña que se llama "SERVICES"
2) Si te deslizas hacia abajo por la pagina en la que estas veras la opcion "PPTP Server" por default esta "Disabled" que significa "deshabilitado" tu debes ponerlo en "Enabled" que significa " Habilitado" , luego debes ir al final de la pagina y hacer click en "Save Settings" que significa "guardar los cambios".
3) Aparecera una pagina que dice: "Settings Are Succesfull" y un boton que dice "Continue" haz click sobre ese boton.
4) Nuevamente aparecemos en la pagina "Services" pero si ahora nos deslizamos hacia abajo, veremos que tenemos algunas cosas para completar en las opciones de PPTP Server...
PPTP Server = Enabled (esto es lo que hace funcionar el servicio)
Server IP = aqui debes escribir la direccion IP que tienes en el puerto WAN del router, es decir el que te conecta a internet.
Client IP(s)= Aqui deberas escribir el Rango de direccines que quieres asignar a los clientes que se conectan desde el exterior (Internet) a tu servidor pptp por ejemplo 192.168.1.100-120 (en este ejemplo estas habilitando 20 clientes )
CHAP-Secrets = Aqui deberas escribir los "Usernames y las Passwords" que les quieres asignar a tus usuarios de VPN. Cuando un usuario desea armar un tunel entre su aquina y el WRT54G/GS debera validarse para establecer una coneccion exitosa, escribiendo aqui el username y las password que tu quieras, le estas confiriendo seguridad a el tunel VPN. El formato es :

 Username * Password *

Nombre de usuario (espacio en blanco) (asterisco) (espacio en blanco) Contraseña (espacio en blanco) (asterisco) Ejemplo :

juan * sdfaseferxxfsaf *
Estela * amorcitolindo777 *
Pepito * jorocohinin *

No te olvides de dejar los espacios, es muy importante , sino no funcionara adecuadamente.
Una vez que has completado los datos , vas hacia abajo de la pagina y hace click en "Save Settings" para que se guarden lso cambios, cuando aparece la pagina "Settings Are Succesfull" Haces click en el boton "Continue" para acceder una vez mas a la pagina "SERVICES" donde te fijaras si la informacion esta correcta una ultima vez.
5) Finalmente  haces click sobre el boton "REBOOT ROUTER" Este paso es importante , por que es el que efctivamente iniciará el servicio con los criterios que tu has configurado una vez que el router esté nuevamente operacional.
6) Para probar si esta todo en orden , seria desde una maquina que este en internet con un windows 2000/XP crear una nueva coneccion de red, de tipo VPN configurar la IP del servidor VPN (que es la IP WAN de tu linksys) El usuaro y la password que has escrito en el linksys y hacer click en conectar. Si has seguido los pasos correctamente , te estaras conectando por VPN sin ningun problema.

VPN with PPTPOn DD-WRT, go to the Administration-Services and set PPTP server to active, save the changes, then set the IP of router (192.168.1.1) (LAN-IP? or WAN-IP??) for the server IP, and under Client IP(s) set a range for connections. (192.168.1.20-29 for example of a ten client set up)
Under Chap Secret put in username * password * for example: testmachine * password1234 *

(The "*" are NOT a Placeholder, they must be there ! )  
Don't use capital letters!
Also avoid using the # character since this breaks pptp. (This also applies to the router administration password that is included by default in the password file for pptpd.)
Now on your PC at your home? select Create new Connection under Control Panel - Network Connections. Select Connect to Network at my Workplace, then select Virtual Private Connection, give it a name (home link). Select what applies, dial up or LAN. Type the WAN IP address of your router, it must be static address or an address through DynDNS.org or the likes. (Thanks loxza)
Then at connect window, type the username and password you used earlier under Chap Secret (in our example: testmachine:password1234). Use no capital letters.
If you have followed the above steps and still cannot connect to the VPN, try forwarding the PPTP Port (1723) with TCP protocol to the LAN IP Address of your router (i.e. 192.168.1.1). Although it seems like this is a weird approach since you are using your router to forward to itself, it often times allows the VPN connection to suceed.

If you have Problems to see your Network Neighbourhood or Programs like VNC and Remote Desktop are not working, then you should Disable the Loopback Adapter under Administration -> Management in your Router. If this does not work, then it is also useful to edit your new VPN Connection under Properties - TCP/IP - Advanced - and select
Use Standard Gateway of the Remote Network.
With this Option you are fully inside the Router's Network, all traffic included your Surfing is then over your VPN Connect. With both Settings, you are fully integrated in the Remote LAN.
