The shadow copies of volume

First, check how much free disk space is available on the system volume in Windows Explorer.
Open Control Panel / System / Advanced System Settings.
Select the System Protection Tab.
In the Protection Settings box, select the System Drive (Usually C:).
Click the Configure Button.
In the Disk Space Usage section, use the slider to increase the amount of disk space allocated to System Restore.
Apply/OK.
You can also use the Disk Cleanup tool to remove all but the latest System Restore Points. This will likely give you back a large amount of free disk space.
Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup. Select to clean up the files for All Users.
You will have the option of selecting which files to remove.
Select
the Clean Up System Files button. This will show a new Tab called More
Options. Click this tab and in the System Restore and Shadow Copies
section, click the Cleanup Button. This will delete all but the most
recent System Restore Point.-------------------------
It was set to 5%, about 5GB. I changed to 10%, about 10GB.

Shadow storage is controlled by the command-line utility vssadmin.
ClickStart. In the search box type cmd and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run command
as an administrator.
At the command prompt type: vssadmin /? to see the
options. Vssadmin list shadowstorage will show you the amount of shadow
storage allocated and used. Vista be default uses up to 15% of a drive's
available space to save restore points. The minimum space required is 300MB.
On my 250GB drive, about 33GB is set aside for shadow storage. As the space
fills up, Vista deletes the oldest shadow copies. You may also Google
vssadmin. There is a lot of info about it there. If you really insist on
changing the space percentage, the 15% is set in the registry key
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore\Cfg. Using
the registry editor, regedit.exe, to edit this key, in the right-hand pane,
double click the DiskPercent value and adjust if from the default setting of
15 to the percent you want. But it's a lot safer and faster to change the
size allocated, as opposed to the percent, with vssadmin.

1. Click Start, input regedit, press Enter

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VolSnap
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD value.
4. Type MinDiffAreaFileSize, and then press ENTER.
5. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
6. Type the size that you want for the shadow copy storage area, and then click OK.
Reboot the computer to check if it works.
If it doesn't work, please check the disk.
1. Click the Start, input cmd in the search bar.
2. Right-click cmd, run it as Administrator.
3. Input the command: Chkdsk /f /r
Restart the computer then check if the problem is still there.
If the issue persists, I would like to know more details
Is it a domain-joined computer? What's kind of your server?
Did this issue happen before?
Here's the similar thread before for your reference:

follow my guide here:

and compress the etl file as 7z or RAR and upload it to your Skydrive and post the link here. I take a look at the trace, maybe I see what's wrong with your Windows.

I set MinDiffAreaFileSize to 3000
Rebooted, still have shadow copies deleted......
--------------- Rebooted, still have shadow copies deleted......
Remember this is a Windows 7 machine, not a Windows 2003 server.
chkdsk c: /r /v was performed, no errors.
What is a default size value for MinDiffAreaFileSize?
Why does that key not exist before?
If the system was working properly a month ago without this key, why do I need it now?

From a support forum: "Even though I had used vssadmin to allocate 3% of hdd space, the registry was still showing the default 15% value at the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore\cfg
I simply changed the default value of 15% [0f Hex to 03 Hex] and the issue seems to have cleared up. Apparently vssadmin does not change the default 15% size in the Registry, hence the "shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because the shadow copy storage could not grow due to a user imposed limit" messages in Event Viewer."

Maybe these help more , if I get it right the idea is to DISABLE the thingy, NOT to give it enough space.

http://www.blackviper.com/windows-services/microsoft-software-shadow-copy-provider/
Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider manages software-based volume shadow copies taken by the Volume Shadow Copy service. If this service is stopped, software-based volume shadow copies cannot be managed. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
