For some reason  I've lost EventSystem service on my server (Windows Server 2003 SP1). As a result a lot of services are now failed to start or to work properly.
There is no "COM+ Event System" service in Services manager, and
at command line:

 net start EventSystem

returns "Service name is invalid".

 Possible solution

Here are instructions about how to reinstall COM+. And after this service appeared and all goes fine now

To diagnose the Volume Shadow Copy service writer problem, run the vssadmin command immediately after the backup failure:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type vssadmin list writers.
